Japan gets "Speed Racer" on demand |

TOKYO -- The Wachowskis' "Speed Racer" will be available on demand on
J:Com, Japan's biggest cabler, on Nov. 19, the same day as its DVD
release in the country.
Released
theatically in Japan in July by Warner, "Speed Racer" is based on the
Japanese TV toon "Mach Go Go Go." J:Com will also offer the 52 episodes
of the original 1967 toon on its on-demand service, as well as the 34
episodes of the 1997 remake.
J:Com had 2.9 million subscribers Aug. 31 in the Sapporo, Kanto, Kansai and Kyushu regions.
