Singapore pays out on new film fund |

PUSAN - The Singapore Film Commission has awarded a total of $1.6 million to nine domestic filmmakers under its New Feature Film Fund, it was announced Friday at Pusan.
The films to be financed include "Thunder Boys", a sports film co-produced by Japan's Adways and Singaporean shingles Mediatribe and Shooting Gallery and "Sandcastle", a family drama executive produced by perennial Cannes favorite Eric Khoo.
The fund, which provides up to $170,000 in production coin, and a further $14,000 for P&A costs, was launched in June and saw 39 short listed applications on its first run.
The scheme is also the first local government coin that attaches a firm commitment for domestic distribution through local distrib, Golden Village.
