HONG KONG – "The Magic Gourd," Walt Disney's first locally-made Chinese film, has topped $2 million at the mainland B.O. The Mouse House is now releasing a Chinese game to accompany the pic.           On its second week of release, film's cume stood at RMB16 million ($2.12 million). Released on June 29, pic held a steady track. "The 2nd weekend drop was only 16%. More importantly on its second Tuesday, the half price ticket day all across Chinese cinemas, our drop was less than 1% from its first Tuesday. All these suggest a good buzz on the street about the movie and the first week audiences recommending more people to go out and see it,” Jo Yan, senior VP sales, co-productions and acquisitions for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Asia Pacific, said.          Disney says that total makes it the second biggest grossing Chinese-language movie in China so far this year, behind "Protégé."          Pic is a moralistic kids fantasy that was made as a co-production between Disney, Hong Kong's Centro Digital and China Film Group.          Participating in the ChinaJoy Expo in Shanghai, the Walt Disney Internet Group said that it will launch 15 new mobile Java-based games this year. These are headed by two made-for-China titles "The Magic Gourd" and "Mickey's Year of the Mouse," as well as China versions of global titles "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End," "Disney 3-in-1 Puzzle Pack," "Tinker Bell Fly" and "Donald Duck’s Quest."
