"Transformers" has conquered China, opening with a boffo $5 million in its first two days.

Paramount's actioner set a record for a foreign language film on its opening day Wednesday with $2.95 million from 550 prints.

"Transformers" appears headed toward the same territory as the two other Hollywood tentpoles released in China earlier this summer -- Sony's "Spider-Man 3" with a Chinese cume of more than $18 million and BVI's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which topped $15 million last weekend.

"Transformers" had racked up more than $120 million in foreign grosses by Thursday, led by $33 million in South Korea and $16 million in Australia.

Paramount's held off going into several major markets including the U.K., Japan, Germany and France for several more weeks.
