SEOUL – South Korean horror film "G.P. 506" has been
suspended in mid-production with 70% of shooting complete,
as the filmmakers search for a new production company.
Pic is directed by Kong Su-chang, whose debut feature
"R-Point" was a solid hit in 2004. However a management
battle and lawsuit at stock market listed production house
Motis has paralyzed funds and ground production to a halt.
Motis, which was producing its first title with "G.P. 506",
had originally committed $1 million to the production, with
distributor and international sales rep Lotte Entertainment
supplying a further $500,000. Lotte is currently requesting
that its money be returned.
A representative from Motis says that talks are currently
underway with several other production companies who have
shown an interest in taking over the troubled project.
"G.P. 506" centers around a baffling string of deaths on the
demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. Pic
features TV star Cho Hyun-jae and up-and-coming thesp Lee
Young-hoon ("No Regret").
