CANNES – The Asia-Pacific Screen Awards has named a committee of movie industry luminaries in preparation for its inaugural kudosfest on Nov 16 (Variety Apr 17, 2007).

At a presentation Sunday evening in Cannes, APSA organizers said that its nominations council is to include: Mohammed Atebbai, Managing Director, Iranian Independents, Philip Cheah, Singapore Film Festival, Anne Demy-Geroe, Brisbane Film Festival, Kim Hong-Joon, Korean National University of Arts, Jeanette-Paulson Hereniko, Hawai‘i Film Festival, Azize Tan, Istanbul Film Festival; Dr Stephen Teo, National University of Singapore; Aruna Vasudev , Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema and Variety film critic Russell Edwards.

Event to be held in Gold Coast Australia, is backed by FIAPF, UNESCO and broadcaster CNN Int'l. First of two hour long programs about contempo Asian cinema will be aired by CNN on Nov 13.
