Nair set for New York honors |

HONG KONG – "The Namesake" helmer Mira Nair is to
receive the 'Pride of India' award at the 9th Bollywwod Film Awards
next month in Gotham.
Upcoming
kudos was announced Tuesday by Kamal Dandona, chairman of the Bollywood Group
of companies. Ceremony will be held at the Nassau Coliseum on May 26.
"The
brilliant thing is that there's room for all of us, for our four-Bollywood
extravaganzas and for my independent work, because we come from a place whose
heart is as big as the ocean, Nair said.
Other
sub-continent celebrities expected to attend include Raj Kumar Hirani (helmer
of "Lage Raho Munnabhai") stars Bipasha Basu and Vivek Oberoi and
Pakistani singing star Waris Beg.
