TOKYO -- NTT Resonant, a member of the NTT telecom group, will launch the new "Gonzo Selection" toon service on its portal site "goo," the GDH toon house announced on Tuesday.
GDH's Gonzo Selection will initially offer five Gonzo brand TV toon series: "Pumpkin Scissors," "Witchblade," "Glass Fleet," "Basilisk" and "Red Garden." Portal visitors will pay a fee to see the toons on the "goo Anime" sub-site.
In addition, GDH will provide Gonzo Selection to NTT's BROBA contents website and Open Computer Network (OCN) Internet service, as well as the FLET'S Square website for subscribers to NTT East's FLET'S Internet provider service. The FLET'S Square feed will be free, but subs to FunBee, a online pay service for FLET'S users, will have to pony up to see Gonzo Selection titles, for a period of one year
To drive more traffic to "goo Anime," GDH will provide the site with episodes of its new TV toon series "Romeo X Juliet," which is skedded to bow on the TBS web and CBC station in April. The episodes will appear on the site free of charge for two weeks after their final broadcast on the tube. They will then be offered for a fee on both goo Anime and OCN. Yet another distrib channel will be Anime Full Channel, a mobile phone site operated by "goo."
