It's nice when feuds actually have an ending, and the Hong Kong press are reporting that the battle between Wong Kar-wai and Raymond Wong over their dueling Ip Man movies has come to an end. If you want to read about all the ins and outs of this epic battle then you can read previous Kaiju Shakedown coverage and gasp at all the thrills and chills. The resolution comes courtesy of the movie's poster and official images:
Raymond Wong has backed down, changing the title of his movie with Wilson Yip and Donnie Yen from 一代宗師葉問 (GRANDMASTER IP MAN) to a simple 葉問 (IP MAN), letting WKW keeps the GRANDMASTER IP MAN name. In addition, Wong Kar-wai and Tony Leung Chiu-wai have told the press that their Ip Man film will start shooting sometime between March and April of 2009. Typical of WKW, they specify a range within which shooting will begin, rather than an actual date. This doesn't commit them to anything, and it's not the first time they've said they're about to start shooting this movie, but it is the first time recently they've said it.
